25 km from the campsite, the Caverne du Pont d’Arc and the Cité de la Préhistoire invite you to go back in time to discover the daily life of our ancestors! After visiting the Pont d’Arc cave, continue your discovery by visiting the Cité de la Préhistoire. Freshly renovated in 2014, the museum houses a vast heritage of prehistory in the Ardèche. Open all year round, it is located in the heart of the great site of Orgnac l’Aven.
To see, to do :
- Discover in large illuminated showcases, the treasures of the Paleolithic and discover through the exhibition the evolution between the hunter man and the modern man of the 21st century. Iron Age pottery, shell ornaments and Neanderthal bones are on display.
- Do a virtual archaeological dig.
- Admire the various concretions of the famous cave of Orgnac, its enormous stalagmites and its natural openings. Discover the palm trees and the piles of mummified plates which are so many vestiges of the past.
